#TreeTalkThursday - Punktree

The Punk-tree is an evergreen tree with simple, narrow, untoothed leaves. The leaves give off the smell of camphor when crushed. This tree normally has a straight trunk and a slender crown. They are abundant in wetlands, and are easily recognized by its spongy white bark that peels in seemingly endless layers.

Fun Fact: This tree is a native of Australia, but was introduced to Florida in 1906 as an ornamental tree. It is now one of Florida's most invasive and troublesome species. It is causing an ecological threat to the Florida Everglades. Each tree can grow up to 6 feet per year and distribute millions of seeds.
